A modern, durable, and refined update

Conveniently located just steps from Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal, the Hilton Gatwick Airport Hotel serves as a premier destination for travellers seeking convenience and comfort.

Alongside its modern bar, restaurant, and on-site gym, the hotel initiated an extensive renovation of its public spaces, corridors, hallways, and back-of-house areas as part of a comprehensive program of improvements.

Pyro + Echo was chosen to supply the tiles for this project, contributing to a modern, durable, and refined update.

Providing an aesthetically rich and natural look

The key challenge for this project was to select a tile that could withstand the heavy foot traffic typical of a bustling airport hotel while also providing an aesthetically rich and natural look. The material needed to strike a balance between strength, safety, and visual appeal, fitting seamlessly into the hotel’s contemporary design scheme.

For this renovation, Pyro + Echo selected tiles from the Central Coast Stone range, renowned for its extraordinary richness through subtle colour variations, bold veining, and detailed patterning.

This range captures the vigour and power of nature, making it a standout choice for high-visibility areas such as public spaces and corridors.

In addition to its visual qualities, the tiles offered a slip rating of R10 B PTV+36, ensuring they were safe for use in these heavily trafficked areas, which is essential for both staff and guests.

Seamless supply

All materials were sourced and delivered through Trimline Group, who are positioned as leaders in the supply and service of tiling systems across the UK. Their ability to supply a complete package of products, combined with next-day delivery, helped streamline the renovation process and ensure the project remained on schedule, with minimal disruption to hotel operations.

The Hilton Gatwick Airport’s updated public spaces and corridors now feature a sophisticated and natural aesthetic, thanks to the rich detailing of the Central Coast Stone tiles.

The slip-resistant properties ensure that these areas remain safe and functional, even in a high-footfall environment. This project exemplifies Pyro + Echo’s expertise in providing high-quality tile solutions that meet both the aesthetic and practical demands of large-scale commercial renovations.
