Delivering a perfect design solution
Located in the tranquil Maida Vale neighbourhood in London, this apartment is a fine example of eclectic modern design meeting functional elegance. Featuring two cosy bedrooms, a light-filled living area, and a beautifully designed main bathroom, the space is a harmonious blend of architectural sophistication and practical living. Pyro + Echo was brought in to deliver a bespoke solution for the bathroom—creating a serene, tranquil space centered around a custom-built vanity unit, which became the focal point of the shower room.
The client sought a shower room that would act as both a peaceful retreat at the end of the day and a practical start to their mornings. The request was clear: the room had to maintain an uncluttered aesthetic while providing ample storage, all while fitting into the overall design vision of the apartment.

Inspiring design & material selection
The highlight of the project was the creation of a bespoke vanity unit, tailored to the client’s needs and the aesthetic of the bathroom. Pyro + Echo designed and supplied a custom EnVision Vanity Unit, integrating both form and function into the bathroom space. This piece became the defining feature of the shower room, where seamless design met high-performance materials.
The EnVision Vanity Unit was carefully crafted to fit into the overall minimalist theme while delivering much-needed storage. The unit featured a sleek, integrated sink, with storage that kept essentials conveniently hidden from view, maintaining the clean, uncluttered look that the client desired. To further enhance the design, Pietra Di Savoia Avorio porcelain slabs from the Laminam I Naturali range were used to clad the vanity unit. The soft ivory hues of the material added a sense of lightness to the room, creating a serene environment while reflecting natural light.
The large 1000 x 3000mm slabs used for the vanity unit offered seamless coverage, reducing the need for joints or grout lines. This contributed to the unit’s smooth, continuous surface, enhancing both its aesthetic appeal and ease of maintenance. The bush-hammered finish, with an R10 slip rating, ensured that the vanity was not only beautiful but also practical, offering texture and safety in a wet environment.
The Pietra Di Savoia Avorio slabs were also used throughout the shower room walls, reinforcing the theme of lightness and elegance. Their natural stone-effect added a tactile dimension to the space, making the room feel more connected to nature. The material's durability and easy upkeep made it a practical choice for a high-use area like the bathroom.

Extending the design philosophy into the kitchen
The kitchen splashbacks feature Pietra Di Savoia Perla slabs, also from the Laminam I Naturali range. This stone-effect porcelain slab, with its subtle pearly white and grey hues, evokes the elegance of natural textures while providing a tactile appeal that invites touch. The material’s ability to harmonize with the modern aesthetic of the kitchen, while maintaining a practical and durable surface, speaks to its versatility. The large slab size allowed for nearly seamless surfaces, enhancing the clean, cohesive design of the kitchen.
For the kitchen floor, tiles from the Marazzi Carácter range in Mix Grey were selected. These tiles feature a bold new pebble stone look that complements the kitchen’s overall design while adding a subtle, natural texture. With 40% of the material being recycled, the range reflects an eco-conscious approach without sacrificing beauty. The soft-to-the-touch texture of these tiles adds an understated elegance that harmonizes with the modern, trendy style of the space.

High architectural & design impact
The bepsoke built EnVision vanity unit became the standout element of this project. It successfully combined practical storage with sleek, minimal design, achieving the client’s desire for both function and aesthetic. The use of Laminam I Naturali porcelain slabs for the unit not only reinforced the natural, serene vibe of the room but also provided a durable and slip-resistant surface that would stand the test of time.
By incorporating the same porcelain slabs throughout the shower room and extending the natural textures into the kitchen splashbacks, Pyro + Echo ensured that the design had a consistent flow, creating harmony between different areas of the apartment.
Conclusion: This Maida Vale apartment stands as a showcase of how custom design and high-quality materials can transform an ordinary space into a sophisticated sanctuary. The bespoke EnVision Vanity Unit, with its seamless integration of Pietra Di Savoia Avorio slabs, represents the heart of this transformation, combining functionality, beauty, and practicality in one striking piece.
Pyro + Echo’s attention to detail and expert use of Laminam porcelain slabs resulted in a bathroom that is not only visually stunning but also designed for everyday life. The project highlights the importance of bespoke craftsmanship in delivering a design solution that meets both aesthetic and functional needs, turning this apartment into a true masterpiece of modern living.
