Parkside, Nine Elms

Best in class

Nine Elms Parkside is the redevelopment of a 5.6 hectare Royal Mail depot site in Wandsworth, a key part the Vauxhall Battersea Opportunity Area, sitting between Battersea Power Station and Nine Elms market and adjacent to the new US Embassy.

The scheme is master planned around the new Nine Elms Linear Park, part of a new green link connecting Battersea Park in the west, along the Thames to Lambeth Palace Gardens in the east.

The scheme consists of 894 build to rent apartments in two twin blocks of 10 to 17 storeys, each of which also features 12,500 sft of amenity space with an infinity edge rooftop swimming pool and spa.

There are two large outdoor terraces, yoga gardens and community herb gardens complete with beehives. Maximizing amenity spaces was a key consideration from the outset, with the aspiration to be ‘best in class’.

Warm & inviting atmosphere

Pyro + Echo where chosen to supply the wooden effect porcelain tiles for all the pool, spa, terrace and amenity areas.

The design brief was to create a visually appealing, functional, and durable space for residents. The challenge was to introduce a warm and inviting atmosphere while ensuring longevity and safety.

Easy to clean and resistant to stains, the 20 mm thick slip resistant tile was the optimal solution. Representing natural wood in its most iconic form, the porcelain stoneware faithfully expresses diversified veins in a warm and contemporary way.

The project involved collaboration with professional pool builders, Aqua Platinum Projects and meticulous attention to detail throughout the tile selection and installation processes. Choosing the right tiles for a swimming pool and steam room requires consideration of various factors, including durability, slip resistance, and aesthetic appeal.

Pyro + Echo also undertook and performed bespoke work, including bullnosing and fabrication. Our team worked closely with the client and pool builder to meet their specific requirements.

A diverse inventory

Pyro + Echo maintains a diverse inventory of high-quality tiles suitable for swimming pool and steam room applications. We presented the client and pool builder with a wide range of options, considering their desired colour palette, budget and functional requirements.

Our team provided guidance to the pool builder on installation techniques, including substrate preparation, adhesive selection, and grouting methods.

The energy-efficient overall design includes the latest advancements in plant room equipment, from innovative water circulation systems to energy-saving filtration.
